May 24, 2018 – Dix Noonan Webb, the international coins, medals and jewellery auction house, has recruited two more experts to join its expanding coins department. Chris Rumney has become the company’s roving agent in the United Kingdom and continental Europe while Jon Mann has joined as DNW’s agent in the north of England.

Their recruitment comes shortly after Tim Wilkes, one of the world’s top experts in Islamic coinage, became a member of the department and follows a bumper 2017 for DNW when all departments combined achieved a total hammer price of £12.7 million.
“We are delighted to have added two such respected and experienced members of the numismatic trade to our team,” said Christopher Webb, head of the Coins Department at DNW. “Chris and Jon will act as our eyes and ears across Britain and continental Europe as we continue to build on the success that we have achieved over the past few years.”

Chris Rumney has joined the expanding Coins Department at Dix Noonan Webb.

Chris Rumney

Chris Rumney began his numismatic career in 1984 when he attended the LAZ Coin Expo in Los Angeles alongside his father. He spent the next nine years in the family coins and collectibles business. He left the trade in 1992 and worked in local government until he was asked to help build up a bullion, numismatic and auction business in Geneva. Chris started with Numisor SA in 2009 and remained with them as a company director charged with growing their online presence and auction business until he joined DNW.

Jon Mann has become a member of the Dix Noonan Webb team too.

Jon Mann

Jon Mann developed a serious interest in numismatics in 2007 while studying at Coventry University. Though obtaining a first class degree in nursing, he decided that a career in the coin trade was his true vocation. Several years were spent as an independent coin dealer before joining Spink & Son as their hammered coins specialist in 2014. From December 2015 Jon went back to independent coin dealing. He undertook commissioned valuation work on the 2014 Lenborough Anglo-Saxon coin hoard as well as cataloguing the lot which set a new world record for any Tudor coin sold at auction.
