July 15, 2010 – The prestigious Otto Paul Wenger Prize was awarded to “swissmint” by the Association of Swiss Professional Numismatists in a ceremony held after their 31st annual meeting. Kurt Rohrer business manager of “swissmint” accepted the prize on behalf of his organisation.

From l. to r. Marcel Häberling, president of the Association of Swiss Professional Numismatists, Kurt Rohrer, CEO of swissmint, Albert M. Beck, founder of MünzenRevue and World Money Fair.

The laudation was held by Albert Beck, founder of MünzenRevue and the World Money Fair. Beck stated that “swissmint”, under Kurt Rohrer, has become a modern and professional organisation and not just another state mint. The Swiss mint exists since 1850 and the design of its currency has remained for numerous denominations, unchanged since 1875, what no other currency in the world can claim for itself.

In the commemorative coin field, “swissmint” has managed to bring together modern design and numismatic quality in its subjects and designs. The new commemorative coins have become “collectible” again and this due to the work of Kurt Rohrer
