Swiss gold coin to commemorate Anker Year 2010

June 10, 2010 – For the Anker Year 2010, the Swiss Confederation is issuing a commemorative coin on June 3rd.

Subject: Albert Ankers’s “Gemeindeschreiber; 900 gold; 11,29 g; 25 mm diameter; mintage: PP max. 6.000 Stück.

As part of the official commemoration of the centenary of Albert Anker’s death, which will be the focus of the celebrations, the coin will be presented to the public in Ins on May 8th. This will be about one month before its data of issue.
The gold coin, which has a diameter of only 25 mm, depicts Albert Anker’s detailed work “The Parish Clerk II” from 1875. The coin has a face value of 50 Swiss francs and will be available from 3rd June 2010 in limited edition at www.swissmint.ch, at the Museum of Fine Arts Bern, at the Ins Raiffeisenbank and from coin dealers and bankers.
The Swiss Confederation uses the proceeds from the sale of the coins, the minting profit, to support cultural projects throughout Switzerland.
