September 10, 2015 – On Wednesday, September 23, 2015, it will not be research that takes the center stage at the International Numismatic Congress, just for once. The focus will rather be on practical issues: how and where young numismatists, after finishing their studies, can get themselves a permanent position to earn their bread and butter.

For starters, five numismatists with a permanent employment, from five different fields, will report about their daily routine, how they made it thus far and what skills a newcomer should have when he wants to start working in the relevant field. Arianna d’Ottone is going to speak on behalf of the universities, Frédérique Duyrat will represent the museums, David Guest the dealers, Mariangela Puglisi the scientific institutions, and Ursula Kampmann journalism. The line-up is complemented by Silke Hahn who is going to elaborate on the studies of numismatics at Vienna.

The subsequent discussion will revolve around the question how to better co-ordinate the academic training and the entry into working life. The discussion will be chaired by Carmen Arnold-Biucchi and Maria Caccamo-Caltabiano. All speakers will of course appreciate the audience lively participating.
