October 31, 2013 – According to the traditional opinion Australia had been isolated since its first colonisation until James Cook discovered it again. This view might change soon.
As CoinsWeekly reported this spring African Kilwa coins suggest that long before the Europeans reached Down Under the region may had cultivated many trading contacts with Africa. An interdisciplinary team aims at corroborating this thesis by searching for further findings. They call themselves ‘Past Masters’ and are so determined that even the lack of money does not detain them from their intention. They opted for crowdfunding in order to get the missing dollars.
On their website everybody can donate money and is rewarded accordingly: for 10 dollars you receive a personal thank on Facebook, if you are disposed to donate 5,000 dollars you will even participate at the expedition. The Past Masters promise to keep the whole world up-to-date by making videos available online. To that purpose they will take a film crew with them.
The crowdfunding project will end on November 29. Until now 21 supporters have raised $1,315. We wish the Past Masters that they will achieve their ambitious goal of $30,000 and that they will be able to re-write Australia’s history!
