Perth Mint begins its 2012 with new releases

January 26, 2012 – The Perth Mint commemorates the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II with a gold coin. 2012 is also the year of the Dragon according to the Chinese calendar, and that is why there are some issues dedicated to the Dragon – featuring also a baby dragon for the kids.

Australia – 100 AUD – Gold 999 – 1.556 g – 14.60 mm – Mintage: 50,000.

The highly anticipated fifth release in the stunning Australian Lunar Series II 1/20oz Gold Coloured Lunar Collection is released this month. The coin features a coloured dragon head to celebrate the auspicious Year of the Dragon.

Australia – 25 AUD – Gold 999 – 7.777 g – 20.60 mm – Design: Darryl Bellotti – Mintage: 1,000.

Her Majesty ascended the throne on 6 February 1952 and was crowned Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953 at the age of 27. This stunning commemorative 1/4oz gold coin is a limited offering with only 1,000 coins released worldwide.
