August 2, 2012 – On September 1, 2012, Horst-Rüdiger Künker will look back on a successful 40-year career at Fritz Rudolf Künker GmbH & Co. Born in 1951, Horst-Rüdiger Künker is head of gold trade. The younger brother of senior partner Fritz Rudolf Künker, he learned the coin dealing trade from the ground up, and in his early years with the company was also instrumental in the classification of numismatic items. The jubilarian is a renowned expert in imperial gold coins with the ability to immediately identify fakes – an absolutely essential skill in this market.

The two brothers recognized quite early on that the secret to success lies in dividing responsibility. Horst-Rüdiger Künker assumed the organization and management of the gold trade division, which, 40 years ago, lay solely in the hands of banks and did not garner much interest from private coin dealers. Realizing very early on the myriad of opportunities presented by the gold business, the Künker Company very purposefully established and built up the worldwide trade of gold coins alongside the auction business that was started in 1985. Today, gold trade is the company’s second strongest pillar next to the auction business.

You should visit the Künker’s website to learn more about its current auctions and, naturally, about gold trade.
