Future of US mint leader unsettled

March 12, 2013 – In September 2012 US President Obama nominated Bibiana Boerio as new director of the US Mint which has been without director since Edmund Moy’s retirement in 2011.
Now, however, the matter seems unsettled again since Senate returned the nominated under the provisions of Senate Rule XXXI, paragraph 6 of the Standing Rules of the Senate. According to this rule nominations not acted upon during the sessions must be returned to the President who may re-submit Ms Boerio or a new candidate.
