Bicolour coin

by Leszek Kula, Mint Director Mint of Poland

The “bicolour coin” is a coin which is put together from two metal elements (perimeter and centre), which are bound together during the minting process. Characteristic for bicolour coins is the fact that the perimeter and interior are differently coloured on the basis of their different materials, such as for example alloys, roll plating, or various galvanic coatings (mostly yellow or silver).
