November 16, 2017 – Stanislaw Suchodolski is one of the Polish numismatists who have made a lasting impact on the international coin world. It all started with the Middle Ages in Poland and the role of coins in investigating its history; from Poland, Suchodolski looked at neighboring countries, to keep on expanding his interests. They have come to reach as far as Papal Rome, the Carolingians, and Byzantium. His publication list contains an unbelievable 655 entries.

Unsurprisingly, to mark his 80th birthday, his friends and students therefore decided to dedicate a second festschrift to him, which succeeds the first one published on the occasion of his 65th birthday. As was expected, the book places a focus on early medieval times even if some contributions deal with the High Middle Ages and even with early modern times. Of course, it mainly addresses Polish topics, but is certainly not limited to these! Numismatists from all over the world are represented, from Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, and Sweden, to name but a few other nations. And so, many articles are written in German or English, and the Polish contributions are accompanied by an English summary.

You can order this important festschrift for 69 zloty (= ca. 16 euros) +postage on the internet. On this website you will also find a list of content.
