2018 ICOMON Meeting – Call for Papers

[bsa_pro_ad_space id=4]

April 19, 2018 – In 2018, ICOMON celebrates its 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion and commemorate ICOMON’s first president, Mando Oeconomides, we are organising a conference dedicated to the very issues that sparked the committee’s inception in the early 1990s. ICOMON’s mandate is to provide a forum for communication, co-operation and information exchange on museological aspects of numismatic or monetary museums and museums of financial and economic institutions.

Coorganized with the Numismatic Museum in Athens, Greece, the XXV Annual ICOMON Meeting aims to address current issues of conservation, preservation, management and care of numismatic collections and revisit its founding principles, evaluate present challenges, and plan for the next 25 years.

In preparing the call for papers, participants may select one of several below topics:

  • conservation, scientific analysis and displaying
  • collections management (storage, handling and digital practices)
  • collections history, strategic planning including outreach and education activities

Participants must send a 250 word abstract along with a presentation title, name, affiliation and contact details of the contributor(s) via email.

Papers can be presented in any one of the three official ICOM languages (English, French or Spanish). The deadline is 20th May 2018. Presentations will typically last 20 minutes and final papers should be sent to the committee by 1st September 2018. All abstracts and a selection of full papers will be published in ICOMON e-proceedings.

Furthermore, the committee informs that registrations for booking a place in the meeting are now open and available here.
