Leu Numismatik Web Auction 25

Leu Numismatik presents their Web Auction 25. After the resounding success of Leu Web Auction 24 at the close of last year, Leu presents another selection of 4,330 coins and group lots from the ancient, medieval, and modern world. The sale will close in four parts from 11th until 14th March 2023.

One of the highlights of this auction is the collection of Prof. Dr. Björn-Uwe Abels of Indian coins, first started in the 1970s, which covers the breadth of ancient, medieval and early modern Indian numismatics. Prof. Dr. Abels travelled to India no less than 45 times, and his love for the country and its fascinating history is clearly reflected in the collection offered here.

Another highlight is Part I of the Dr. Lars Ramskold Collection of Constantinian Coinage. This collection, containing around 8,000 pieces in total, is by far the largest and most important of its kind ever formed. Part I focuses on folles from the mint of Rome, but also includes an offering of Constantinian silver, anepigraphic dynastic bronze folles, the enigmatic star/wreath, “O/C S/C” and “C/A V/O” issues, and silver fractions. It is the largest offering of these series to ever come to market and thus presents a unique opportunity to all buyers. Finally, the auction also contains further offerings from the collection of Dr. D. Löer of Ancient, Medieval, and Islamic coins, as well as from various other collections.

Leu Web Auction 25 is divided into four parts and will be auctioned off on four consecutive days:

  • Part I, which includes the Celtic and Greek coins (lots 1-1078), closes on Saturday, 11th March 2023, starting at 12 pm CET.
  • Part II, which includes the Oriental Greek, Central Asian, Roman Provincial, Roman Republican & Imperatorial coins, as well as the collection of Prof. Dr. Abels of Indian coins (lots 1079-2075), closes on Sunday, 12th March 2023, starting at 12 pm CET.
  • Part III, which includes the Roman Imperial coins and Part I of the Ramskold Collection (lots 2076-3263) closes on Monday, 13th March 2023, starting at 12 pm CET.
  • Part IV, which includes the Byzantine coins, weights, seals, Early Medieval & Islamic and World coins and the group lots (lots 3264-4430) closes on Tuesday, 14th March 2023, starting at 12 pm CET.

Leu Numismatik would also like to remind all customers that they will donate 1% of the total hammer price of Web Auction 25 to the Swiss Red Cross, in order to contribute to emergency aid in the wake of the devastating earthquake which hit Turkey and Syria on 6th February 2023.
