Roberto Ganganelli is the new President of the Accademia Italiana di Studi Numismatici

January 26, 2017 – On 19 November, 2016, the Annual General Assembly of the Accademia Italiana di Studi Numismatici (AISN) was held in Rome. Exactly twenty years ago, in 1996, the association was founded with the intention to foster numismatic research and encourage better communication among experts.

At the assembly, the new members of the board were elected. The members with voting power elected numismatic journalist Roberto Ganganelli president of the association. Ganganelli is editor-in-chief of the online magazine “Il Giornale della Numismatica” and author of numerous numismatic publications. He will hold this office for two years, as will the new members of the board Lisa Bellocchi, Stefano Bertuzzi, Andrea Cavicchi, Michele Chimienti (Vice President), Luca Lombardi, Leonardo Mezzaroba, Stefano Poddi, and Beniamino Russo.

The AISN connects numismatists from all areas, university lecturers and curators, collectors and dealers. At the moment it is headquartered in Bari. The association officially participated in the XV International Numismatic Congress in Taormina and in the Second International Congress for Archaeometry, which, initiated by former AISN president, included a series of talks on metrological aspects of numismatics.
