The winning design “Taivaanrannan tuolla puolen” (Over the Horizon) was created by Roope Määttä, an art student at the Kajaani Upper Secondary School.
Over 1,000 visitors to Mint of Finland’s website voted for Roope Määttä’s design, Taivaanrannan tuolla puolen (Over the Horizon) to help choose the theme of the Children and Creativity collector coin, to be launched on October 20. Määttä is an art student at the Kajaani Upper Secondary School.
“I think creativity is aspiring to the impossible and seeing beyond it. Taivaanrannan tuolla puolen depicts a moment when an impossible thing comes to pass, and another is reached for. My design also shows that one should always remembers one’s roots,” Määttä says.
The runner-up was Hiekkaleikkejä (Sand Games), a design by Jonna Poutiainen, a student at the Helsinki Upper Secondary School of the Visual Arts. Tutkiva luovuus (Investigative Creativity) by Katri Piri, a student at the Tiirismaa Upper Secondary School in Lahti, won third place.
The raffle’s official superviser Ricky Rapper (actor Severi Heikkilä) and Mint of Finland’s CEO Paul Gustafsson are showing the winning design of the Children and Creativity competition.
A Children and Creativity collector coin along with pieces of jewellery made at Mint of Finland were raffled among the participants in the vote for the Children and Creativity coin’s theme. The raffle was supervised by Severi Heikkilä from the children’s movie Ricky Rapper and the Bicycle Thief.
