January 21, 2014 – The publishers of Currency News bring out two new publications in early 2014: a new issue in the series of Special Reports – ‘Celebrating 20 Years of Currency in Kazakhstan’ – and a Coin Directory, which is a unique publication on all the circulating coins in the world.

First will be the next in its series of periodic Special Reports, the objective of which is to cover specific topics (market sectors, technologies etc.) in depth. The first report, ‘The Currency Landscape in India’, was published earlier this year. The second will be titled ‘Celebrating 20 Years of Currency in Kazakhstan’.

The report will cover the evolution of currency and payments in Kazakhstan since the introduction of the Tenge in 1993. Topics covered will include design, production, past and current practices with testing the new features, counterfeiting, public attitudes, the development of the printworks, cash circulation policy and the role of cash in the country. There will be a particular focus on design and the National Bank of Kazakhstan’s willingness together with the printworks (the Banknote Factory) and suppliers to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation in its choice of features (many of which have made – and continue to make – their appearance in either commemorative or circulating notes for the first time).

The report is due to be published in January, once the latest circulating note has been issued, and will be free of charge to central banks and Currency News subscribers.

Coin Directoy
Also coming in the first quarter of 2014 will be the Directory of Circulating Coins. This will be the first and only publication of its kind to provide information solely on all the circulating coins in the world, providing issuers, producers and suppliers of related production, verification and handling systems with easy access to up to date information, specifications and images in one concise volume.

The Directory will contain around 200 pages, with details of every country’s circulating coins including images of the obverse and reverse of each coin, composition, diameter, weight, edge detail, and description of motifs and security features.

It will be distributed free of charge to all coin specifiers and issuers, and available at a heavily-discounted rate to mints and to subscribers of Currency New. Advertising opportunities are available for producers and suppliers, with special rates for Currency News subscribers.
