New Managing Director for World Money Fair

June 14, 2018 – Ms Gitta Künker will be the new Managing Director of World Money Fair effective from 1 July 2018 according to a statement of the World Money Fair Holding GmbH (WMF).

Gitta Künker has extensive management experience from Union Bank of Switzerland and Credit Suisse, leading large global change processes for these international banks. Gitta Künker has also good knowledge of the coin industry, being a member of the Künker family that owns and runs Europe’s leading coin auction house, Fritz Rudolf Künker GmbH & Co. KG.

In the statement the WMF owners said: ‘The digital transformation that sweeps across all industries are also affecting World Money Fair and the coin business. We are therefore starting a broad strategy process to make sure we address the future and the changing needs of the industry and all our exhibitors and partners. Gitta has broad experience in such change processes, and we believe she is the ideal managing director to steer us through this process.’

Gitta Künker will work closely with Mrs Barbara Balz, who will continue running the day-to-day activities of WMF.

Jens Heisse-Engelschalk is completing his one and a half year assignment as managing director of World Money Fair by 1 July 2018. He will overlap with Gitta Künker for a period until she formally takes the helm on 1 July.
