October 16, 2014 – The 29th Annual National Coin and Currency Convention, an event featuring a 75 booth bourse consisting of both rare coin and currency dealers will once again be held at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare, 5440 North River Road, Rosemont, Illinois, just across the street from the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, site of the American Numismatic Association’s convention last August. The hotel is within two miles of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport and offers free shuttle service to and from the airport.

The event will feature a three session auction cataloged and conducted by Lyn Knight that will include both United States and foreign paper money. Convention activities will get underway at 10AM on Wednesday, November 19, when auction lot viewing will open. Lot viewing will close for the evening at 6PM that day. Viewing resumes the next day at 9AM, one hour prior to the booth holder move in and setup period, which concludes at 1PM, when the Early Bird/Professional Preview Day gets underway and runs until 6PM. There is a $75 registration fee for the preview. Lot viewing will close at 4PM on Thursday and the first session of the auction will start at 5PM, featuring foreign paper money.

Lot viewing will run from 9AM until 5PM on Friday and Saturday, November 21 and 22. The second session of the Knight auction will be held at 6PM on Friday and the third and final session at 6PM Saturday. The Friday and Saturday sessions will include United States paper money.

The regular public hours for the 75 booth bourse area will be Friday and Saturday from 10AM-6PM and Sunday from  10AM-2PM. A three day pass valid for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is $5. Children 16 and under accompanied by an adult will be admitted free.

Patricia Foley, General Chairman of the event said, “I’m especially pleased that we’ll once again have a Lyn Knight auction as part of our event. Lyn was a successful and respected dealer in rare currency before I was even born. His auctions have been a central feature of our event since its very first year and his participation is one of the primary reasons for its longevity.”

Bourse Chairman Kevin Foley added, “Since moving from St. Louis to the Chicago area the National Coin and Currency Convention has been in a growth mode. 2014 will be a repeat of that experience. As I write this we have just two booths remaining available and I’m looking forward to yet another commercially active event. Our Professional Preview on Thursday afternoon continues to grow in popularity every year. Our dealers hold back special items just to unveil at the NCCC. Really serious collectors and dealers without booths come to the preview to have first shot at these special items and the booth holders latest purchases. I can always tell from the noise level in the room that day that there is plenty of business going on”

Foley continued, “For many years the Chicago Coin Club has held a meeting at 1PM on Saturday afternoon at our convention. They’ll be a centerpiece of the NCCC once again this November. Although the arrangements for their speaker have yet to be finalized, judging from past presentations, attending the Chicago Coin Club meeting alone should be worth the visit to Rosemont. They always have an engaging speaker and the CCC meeting typically draws at least 50 people because of this.”

A discounted group room rate of $115 is available over the NCCC dates. Attendees should call the hotel at (877) 337-5793 and ask for the “National Coin and Currency Convention” rate for the special discount. A discounted daily parking rate of $10 is also available for guests staying under the NCCC room block.

Dealers interested in one of the two remaining booths should contact Bourse Chairman Kevin Foley via e-mail or by calling (414) 807-0116.
