September 11, 2014 – In 864 Charles the Bald founded a mint in Paris. Under the name of Monnaie de Paris this institution is still producing France’s circulation and collector coins. The change from an early medieval mint to a state-of-the-art minting institution with various facilities is illustrated in a five-part video documentary. Interviews and a glimpse behind the scenes inform about a history of 1150 years. Currently only a French version is available, though.
You can find the film on a dedicated website.

Additionally you can watch the single episodes on Youtube: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5.

To learn more about French collector coins or the modern mint go to the website of Monnaie de Paris.

And, finally, you can visit a sort of virtual exhibition on the 1150 years of Monnaie de Paris.
