Malta presents new coin programme with a symposium

February 28, 2013 – The Central Bank of Malta hosted at its premises a symposium introducing the coin programme 2013. Renowned experts on the motifs explained the programme’s topics and underlined the historical relevance of the coins.
For instance Malta has chosen national poet Dun Karm Psaila for a special edition of the Europa programme 2013 ‘Writers’. The coin was presented by the poet’s biographer Oliver Friggieri.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Malta, Josef Bonnici, explained the issuing programme in a broader sense analysing the coins’ functions like price and financial stability.
