February 7, 2013 – Kevin Foley, General Chairman for the Central States Numismatic Society’s 74th Anniversary Convention, to be held April 22-27, 2013 at the Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center, located at 1551 North Thoreau Drive in the northwest Chicago suburb, has announced the availability of convention sponsorships for the event. He said, “Becoming a sponsor for our convention is a way that a dealer or collector can distinguish themselves by providing a tax deductible donation that will enhance a specific aspect of the operation of the convention at the direction of the donor. For example, our educational exhibit area, message center and registration area will once again be sponsored by the Indiana firm of SilverTowne. Professional Coin Grading Service, the perennial sponsor of our Young Numismatists Treasure Hunt, will once again underwrite that special program, while the operation of our security room will continue to be enhanced by a generous donation from a Chicago area safe rental firm, Superior Safe Service. Each of these participants in our convention demonstrates a commitment to giving back to the overall numismatic community through their support for a specific aspect of our 74th Anniversary Convention.”

Education Director Ray Lockwood echoed Foley’s sentiments and added, “Our annual convention is much more than simply a big coin show, it is an event of considerable importance to those who attend, whether they are beginning collectors, advanced numismatists or dealers who depend on the kind of activities that will be taking place in Schaumburg to earn a living. The generosity of our sponsors enhances the quality of what we do for everyone who comes. Our sponsors contribute  to the convention working better than it otherwise would.”

Director Lockwood’s wife Fran, the long time Educational Exhibit Chairperson said, “Sometimes people come to an event like the CSNS Anniversary Conventions and fail to appreciate just how much it costs to organize and present a convention of the scope and magnitude of our event. Our sponsors understand that and help add to the operation of our affair through their support of specific operational areas.”

Deputy Convention Chairperson and a CSNS Past President, Patti Finner, joined her colleagues and said, “Our sponsors make the areas of their dedicated support stand out in ways that wouldn’t be possible without their donations. We have sponsorship levels available to fit any personal or corporate budget, ranging from $250 to $2,500. Our highly acclaimed Civil War Educational Forum and our Awards Breakfast are examples at the upper end of the scale, while a Patron sponsorship is available for as little as $250.”

Deputy Bourse Chairman Patricia Foley said, “Some of the most accomplished names in the history of industry and commerce in this country, names like Carnegie, Ford, Hughes, Rockefeller, Mellon and Gates, to name just a few, are known and respected today as much or more for their philanthropic and charitable endeavors as for their precursor accomplishments in their chosen occupations. I like to think of our sponsorship program as an opportunity for people and companies that the world of numismatics has conferred special benefits on to give something back to help contribute to the future. I hope that others will share this vision and make a commitment in keeping with their own means and resources.”

Dealers and collectors interested in undertaking a CSNS convention sponsorship for the 2013 74th Anniversary Convention should contact General Chairman Kevin Foley by calling (414) 807-0116 or via e-mail.
