August 25, 2011 – On Tuesday, August 23, 2011 the New York coin dealer Steve Halfon left his shop Liberty Coin Co. after closing time at about 5 pm. His coin shop is located near McDonald Avenue in Gravesend, where crime is said to have augmented within the last years dramatically. In 2010, police counted 10 murders.

When Steve Halfon was walking to his car, three men mugged him. They beat the hell out of him and dragged him into their car, a waiting black or dark-blue Volvo Sedan. After having driven some miles, they throw his body out of the car in Midwood. Two blocks further they abandoned the Volvo and escaped afoot. A motorist spotted Halfton and called the police. The emergency doctor was not able to do anything for Halfton. His death was officially declared in the hospital.

The suspects are on the run.
