Acting Mint Master for Royal Dutch Mint

[bsa_pro_ad_space id=4]

January 7, 2016 – Following a period of employment as Mint Master that has spanned nearly fifteen years, Maarten Brouwer has stepped down as General Manager of the Royal Dutch Mint. Since 1 December 2015, his position is being filled ad interim by Kees Bruinsma. In the period ahead Mr Bruinsma will focus in particular on the design and implementation of the new strategy in order to guarantee the continuity of the organisation.

The introduction of an acting Mint Master is an occasion for a numismatic change as well. Traditionally, acting Mint Masters use the Mint Master’s mark of their predecessor, with the addition of one small change. This means that from now on, a star will be added to the Mint Master’s mark ‘Koerszettende Zeilen’.

In 2015, the Royal Dutch Mint will be issuing a limited number of coins bearing the mark of the acting Mint Master. The issue in which these coins will appear is still in development. More information on this issue will be provided in the course of next year.

All Dutch coins and medals struck during the acting Mint Master’s tenure will bear the acting Mint Master’s mark.

We reported on the personal change at the Royal Dutch Mint previously.
